I noticed this too and it thought it was a bug. As Gavalakis has mentioned, you can just clear the string, but it does actually come I handy. For example, if you create the variable in the graph, but later decide to create it in the owner, you can just delete the graph variable then hit the button to promote it to the owner BB.
