I remember seeing in some asset before, before I came to NodeCanvas, is that the canvas variables for a node could have an attribute ‘(ex [BBTooltip(“This variable does what for what and some other stuff”)’.
Something like this would allow actions and tasks to be more descriptive for users when mousing over each variable, if something really needs a description, without cluttering up the main description with each and every variable.
Personally, I think I remember the first time I loaded up NodeCanvas and I went to mouse-over a variable, but there was no tooltip like I expected. In most cases maybe one isn’t needed, but having that attribute would be nice!
Thanks, the reason I brought this up now was because I’ve been looking at other integration packages in my asset folder to switch to NodeCanvas (from Behaviour Designer), and a lot of it are things like:
1
2
3
4
[Tooltip("Check this to perform action on all Playlist Controllers")]
publicSharedBool allPlaylistControllers;
[Tooltip("Name of Playlist Controller containing the Playlist. Not required if you only have one Playlist Controller")]
publicSharedString playlistControllerName;
Most cases you’re right though, the description wouldn’t be needed I think
